Procurement & Sourcing in Socio-bioeconomy.

We offer a comprehensiv bioproduct procurement and sourcing service within communities.

We have built a complete procurement and sourcing service for bioproducts in communities. This service can either include end-to-end bioprospecting, supplier development and bioproducts trading, or be executed individually, complementing corporate efforts already in place.

01

Personalized Bioprospecting.

GSS conducts tailored bioprospecting in the rich biodiversity of Brazil and Latin America, identifying native species with potential for application in various sectors. Through a vast network of local partners, our team prospects endemic regions and regions that cultivate fauna and flora species whose properties can be explored in a sustainable manner.

02

Community Mapping.

GSS conducts detailed mapping of local, traditional and indigenous communities, analyzing their technical and traditional knowledge regarding biodiversity, sustainable practices and potential bioproducts of interest. This mapping allows for targeted bioprospecting, respecting the rights and culture of these communities.

03

Supplier Development.

Based on the mapping carried out, GSS works with communities to develop and train local suppliers of bioproducts. This involves capacity building in gathering, storage, processing and logistics best practices, aiming to guarantee the quality and traceability of sociobiodiversity products.

04

Support in Contract Negotiations with Communities.

GSS assists companies in negotiating fair and balanced contracts with bioproduct supplying communities. This includes the definition of prices, volumes, deadlines and conditions that respect the rights and autonomy of communities, following the same guiding principles of fair benefit sharing provided for in legislation on access to genetic heritage.

05

Adaptation of Sourcing Processes and Tools.

To effectively integrate bioproducts into companies’ supply chains, GSS adapts corporate sourcing processes and instruments. This includes reviewing purchasing policies, including socio-environmental criteria in supplier selection, adapting management systems and creating specific indicators to monitor socio-environmental performance.

06

Bioproduct Trading.

GSS acts as an buy-side agent in the bioproducts trade, connecting supplier communities with purchasing companies. Through its network of relationships and market expertise, the consultancy facilitates commercial transactions, ensuring the traceability, quality and legal compliance of products, in addition to promoting the appreciation of sociobiodiversity.

  • Value Chain Investment.

These projects aim to strengthen the communities' social and productive infrastructure, focusing on sustainability and biodiversity conservation. This includes investments in agroecological systems, sustainable management of natural resources, community-based ecotourism and low-impact infrastructure.

The goal is to create a solid foundation for socioeconomic development in harmony with the preservation of local ecosystems, promoting the resilience of communities in the face of climate change.

    Sustainable Finance.

GSS has developed frameworks and structures in collaboration with banks and financial sector partners to enable investment in corporate value chains through sustainable finance products, trade finance, CAPEX structuring, among others.

  • These programs are designed to generate measurable positive impacts on the social, economic and environmental aspects of communities. They include initiatives for biodiversity conservation, climate change adaptation and mitigation, development of sustainable supply chains, payment for environmental services and strengthening of local governance. The GSS team works in partnership with communities, respecting their traditional knowledge and promoting innovative and contextualized solutions.

  • The training and capacity building component seeks to empower community members with knowledge and skills related to sustainability and biodiversity conservation. This includes workshops on agroecological practices, sustainable forest management, ecosystem restoration, green entrepreneurship and climate change adaptation. The aim is to empower individuals so that they can adopt sustainable practices in their productive activities, contributing to the resilience of their communities and the preservation of natural resources.

  • GSS’s community engagement strategies aim to strengthen ties between communities and their natural and cultural heritage. This involves valuing traditional knowledge, promoting community-led conservation initiatives and encouraging local leadership in the sustainable management of socio-biodiversity resources.
